Emma Stone thinks Hollywood has grown more conservative as studio bosses are afraid of causing offence. Emma Stone thinks Hollywood is growing more conservative. The ‘Help’ actress believes many movies that were made in the 1970s would not be commissioned these days as studio bosses are too afraid of “offending” anyone. She said: “It concerns me that movies seem to be getting more and more conservative and watered down. “I see movies made in the 70s such as ‘Network’ that I really don’t think would get made today. Amovie that calls the audience to task for sitting glued to their screens, believing everything they’re told by the media? That would be considered too challenging today. Nobody wants to risk offending the viewers. “Movies need broad appeal to succeed and bosses don’ want to alienate anyone.” Emma, 22, believes many actors censor themselves to an extent where it has a severe impact on their performances. She added: “I even hate it when people censor themselves. You can always tell when an actor has grown a ‘rhino skin’ to protect themselves. It comes across on screen and they aren’t believable. “They’re dead in the eyes because they’ve been told a million times that they’re the greatest actor that ever lived. If you don’t realise what’s happening and get your feet back on the ground, it can be the worst thing that ever happens to you.” Source: Contact Music

1 Gorgeous Emma Stone (22) is Hollywood’s newest leading lady and takes the main role in the eagerly awaited movie The Help, the adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s bestselling novel about African-American maids working in white households. Opening here next week, Stone plays Skeeter Phelan, a journalist living in Mississippi in the 1960s. 2 Emma’s full name is Emily Jean Stone. But there was already an Emily Stone registered at the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG). 3 Emma confessed to People that when she has down time, she prefers to do nothing: “I’m lazy beyond belief — my favourite thing to do when I’m not working is sit around.” 4 She convinced her parents to let her move to Hollywood and pursue acting by making a PowerPoint presentation with Madonna’s song Hollywood as the soundtrack. 5 Emma has gushed about her favourite guilty treat being the meatball and mozzarella-flavoured microwave turnovers, Hot Pockets. 6 The Help is Emma’s first movie adapted from a book. Her film Easy A has a similar theme to the Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1850 romantic novel The Scarlett Letter, but is not a true adaptation. 7 Emma dropped out of high school at 15 to pursue acting full-time. She eventually finished her studies via home schooling. 8 Stone shies away from social networking. She deleted her Facebook account “I got addicted to FarmVille, so had to get off,” Emma has said. Looking for Emma Stone’s Twitter? She doesn’t have one of those either. 9 Emma and her mum wanted to get matching tattoos based on her mum’s favourite song Blackbird. Emma wrote a letter to Paul McCartney telling of her mother surviving breast cancer, and he sketched a bird feet design and sent it back to them. 10 ”My hair grows out of my head blonde, but I usually dye it red,” Emma has said. After Judd Apatow suggested she go red for his movie Superbad, she liked it so much she stuck with it. Yet you can see her blonde locks when she plays Gwen in the new Spiderman blockbuster. >suzy belton Source: Herald.ie No related posts.

While she may have celebs lusting after her, Emma Stone still gets star-struck from time to time. “The Help” star, who before she was uber-famous suffered from panic attacks, covered UK’s Stylist Magazine to share how she deals with meeting her idols. As it turns out, she’s gotten pretty good at keeping cool around most, but there are some — director Cameron Crowe, “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels and actor Tom Hanks — who are just too much for the red-headed beauty.
She’s beautiful, humble and she used ‘whilst’ in a sentence! What a girl. Source: Huffington Post Related posts:

Emma Stone was “like a sponge” on the set of The Help. The actress plays young journalist Eugenia ‘Skeeter’ Phelan in 60s America, who decides to write a controversial book addressing the relationships between African American maids and their white employers. Emma was thrilled to work alongside a stellar female cast. The 22-year-old star learnt a lot from her co-stars Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain. “It was the role, the script, the other cast members – everything [that drew me to the role]. While Skeeter was learning about the lives of black domestics in the movie, I was learning about civil rights in the Sixties, so it felt like we were learning in tandem. I also learned so much from the other cast members,” she told Stylist magazine. “I’ve only been acting for five years, so when I’m around other more experienced actors, I feel like a sponge, just soaking up whatever I can from them. With The Help I think one of the reasons we had such fun filming was because we were surrounded by women and didn’t have to worry about how we looked to men.” The Help is based on the best-selling book by Kathryn Stockett. Emma felt added pressure to do justice to the popular novel. “Of course,” she exclaimed when asked if she found it nerve-wracking. “There’s an extra weight of responsibility. To make matters worse, it’s my mom’s favourite book. That’s the definition of pressure, right there. But you have to put all this aside, and forget about the millions of people out there waiting to say, ‘Huh! I didn’t see Skeeter like that! Why didn’t they get X to play the role?’ If you obsess about what these people might think, you’d never get out of bed.” Source: Film News Related posts:

Emma Stone has revealed the first person to congratulate her on landing a role in the new Spider-Man reboot was Bryce Dallas Howard – who had played the same part in a previous version of the superhero tale. The actresses were working together on new movie The Help when Emma found out she would be playing Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spiderman, and Spider-Man 3 star Bryce was quick to learn of the news. “She was maybe the first person that came into my trailer. She banged on my door and said ‘The internet is saying that you are Gwen Stacy’. And I had just found out,” Emma told The Independent. “They tell you that you’re going to play Gwen Stacy and they say, ‘It’s going out in a minute and a half’. I had 90 seconds to go like this [she hyperventilates] and then it was all over the internet. “So two minutes later, Bryce was like: ‘Hi! Is this true?’” Emma – who stars alongside leading man Andrew Garfield in the comicbook tale – said Spider-Man fans’ enthusiasm was one of the best things about being involved in the much-anticipated film. “That kind of passion is one of the most fun reasons to be involved with something like Spider-Man,” she added. Emma Stone believes starring in ‘The Help’ allowed her to learn about the civil rights movement in the 1960s. Emma Stone learnt about the civil rights movement “in tandem” with her ‘The Help’ character. The ‘Easy A’ actress portrays a journalist named Skeeter who decides towrite a book from the point of view of the black maids during the 1960s race equality struggles, and she admits she was lacking knowledge about the real life situations until she took part in the Tate Taylor-directed project. She told BANG Showbiz: “Skeeter is learning about the truth and the reality of every day life of these women, as I was. I felt like we were learning in tandem about that because I have been educated on the most well known stories of the era but not the day to day life of the ordinary woman experiencing this. “Getting to live in the south and play Skeeta and was really so enriching for my life, not only as an actor but as me.” However, she has “no idea” if she would be brave enough to do the same should she have lived during the time. Asked if she could have done what her character does, Emma responded: “You know what’s great about a film or a character or a part in another time period is that I can say, ‘Absolutely! Yes! Definitely!’ No, I have no idea. I would hope so. And putting myself in Skeeter’s position and in the character I imagined it all the time but you don’t know what you don’t know, you know?” Source: Times Of India No related posts.

Emma Stone likes to live “in the moment.” The actress from “The Help” — who has previously dated Kieran Culkin and was recently linked to her “The Amazing Spider-Man” co-star Andrew Garfield — tries not to get “overwhelmed” by her new-found success.. She said: “I’m very aware that it’s a moment. If I ever get overwhelmed by everything that’s happening to me, I think, ‘Get over it sweetheart. It will be gone one day.’ “There’s going to be another 22-year-old redhead on my heels. It’s inevitable and there’s nothing I can do about it, so I try to live in the moment.” However that does not mean she does not think about her future, and Emma admits it is unlikely she will ever fall off the rails like her contemporary Lindsay Lohan. She told Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper: “I have parents who would never allow me to lose my mind like that. They just would not let that happen and I know they’re always going to be there for me. I’d be a mess without that.” Source: CTV Related posts:
