Former ‘America’s Next Top Model’ contestant Analeigh Tipton is getting a chance as an actress as she has signed on to star in the still-untitled comedy featuring Steve Carell. She joins a cast that includes Carell, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Tipton will be playing a babysitter that has a crush on Carell’s character, but is also the crush for Carell’s 13 year-old son. As previously mentioned, Carell plays a father trying to reconnect with his kids while his life unravels. So if Emma Stone is playing Carell’s daughter and he also has a 13 year-old son, I’m not sure why he needs a babysitter. I have to assume that either she’s a local neighbor or they’re going to throw in a little kid at some point. Source: Variety

Attention readers: Your imaginations are needed to help fill some gaps in a short film around which buzz has incrementally built over the last few months, and which actress Emma Stone briefly teased today in an interview with Movieline. That would be five-minute segment Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman contributed to the anthology Untitled Movie — which, depending on whom you ask, is a working title or the actual name of an all-star omnibus directed by the likes of Peter Farrelly, Brett Ratner, Elizabeth Banks, and others. Stone is in another short altogether, but to hear her tell it (and not nearly enough), keep your eyes on “The Catch.” “That one is so much fun,” said Stone, who had sat down to talk more generally about her upcoming indie Paper Man, which opens April 23. “It’s a series of 17 short films — kind of like Kentucky Fried Movie. It that vein. It’s just really, really funny. Kieran Culkin and I did our short together a couple of weeks ago, directed by Griffin Dunne. But wait until you see the Kate Winslet/Hugh Jackman one. That’s the only other one I’ve seen. The humor is so raunchy.” • Read full story…

Whether she’s poking fun at her clean-cut image in a rap with T-Pain or spoofing Taylor Lautner’s soapy drama “Twilight” on “Saturday Night Live,” Taylor Swift has certainly showed off her comedy chops. But “Superbad” star Emma Stone, a friend of Swift’s, revealed that the country cutie’s humor is much more wicked than anyone could imagine. “She’s so great! We’re very different, but she has such a sick sense of humor,” Stone told MTV News. “Nobody knows that. She’s so great. People know … how hilarious she is. They’ve seen her on ‘SNL.’ People are seeing it more now, and she’s so funny and she’s exactly who you think she is, and I love that.” • Read full story…

Dreamworks Studios isn’t wasting any time casting their adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel The Help. The studio confirms it’s in early negotiations with Emma Stone to play the lead character Skeeter Phelan, a white recent college graduate living in the South in the early 1960s. Stone, best known for her role as spunky older sister Wichita in last year’s unlikely hit Zombieland, could easily embody the spunky character Skeeter, a young woman who is uncomfortable with the current social norms of her Mississippi, where the black maids do all the work and receive none of the respect. She sets out to write a book chronicling the maids’ experiences, a tell-all that uncovers the racism, cruelty and deplorable actions of the white society women, some of whom are her own friends. Stockett’s childhood friend Tate Taylor has adapted the book and is scheduled to begin filming this summer in Mississippi. Source: EW

Steve Carell’s latest project will find him as a lonely husband and father roundly dumped by his wife, trying to reconnect with his kids and learning how to become a stuff with the ladies thanks to some advice from Ryan Gosling. Now we know the title – Crazy, Stupid Love and one of the other possible cast members: Zombieland’s Emma Stone. The wonderful Stone, who played smooth-talking, car-jacking, shotgun-hefting Wichita in the zom-com, is in negotiations to play an apparently pivotal role that the Vulture blog’s report refuses to clarify since it ties the whole film together and could be a massive spoiler. MPI Media Group has acquired all North American rights to the comedy-drama Paper Man starring Jeff Daniels, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone and Lisa Kudrow. MPI plans a late spring theatrical release on the film, written and directed by Michele and Kieran Mulroney, to be followed by DVD and VOD. Sierra Pictures is handling international sales. Daniels plays a writer tormented by the pressures of deadlines, his wife, and the constant presence of the superhero who has lived inside his head since his youth. Film Colony’s Richard Gladstein produced with Film 360’s Guymon Casady, and Artfire Films’ Art Spigel and Ara Katz, who fully financed the production. Dan Fireman of Fireman Capital Partners and also a partner in Artfire served as executive producer alongside Darin Friedman of Film 360. MPI Media Group executive vice-president Greg Newman negotiated the deal with Dina Kuperstock of CAA. “It’s rare to find a witty and clever movie, that is also heartwarming and fun to watch,” Newman said. “Audiences will be drawn to this terrific cast and the appealing, very human characters that the Mulroneys have created.” The Mulroneys are currently writing the sequel to Warner Bros’ Sherlock Holmes and a project for Ron Howard and Imagine Entertainment. They also wrote Warner Bros’ upcoming Justice League, Sleeping Father and Equals. Source: Screen Daily |
