Here’s what we know about the mucho-hyped spidey reboot titled (duh) The Amazing Spider-Man: Andrew Garfield plays the webbed wonder himself, Rhys Ifans plays über-evil Lizard, and Emma Stone plays the only normal one in the bunch.

But what if Miss Stone was the one slinging spider webs—or flying faster than a speeding bullet or wielding an American flag-themed shield? At the Comic-Con press conference held for the flick, we asked our fave up-and-commer which superheroine franchise she’d like to lead.

Read on to hear what she’s got to say about her superself and her hottie Brit costar:

“Oh boy. I don’t know if I could be a superhero, to be honest with you,” Emma responded to our Q. “I mean, I’d love to say, ‘Yes, there’s 12 I can name,’ but I don’t know if I’m your girl if you’re looking for a superhero.”

C’mon, Em—what happened to super powered girl power?

Oh well, we’ll forgive her because she is absolutely adorable when it comes to chatting about her costar-turned-rumored BF. Like when one reporter asked her why she’d signed on to the gig.

“Uh, sorry… I’m a little embarrassed here,” Emma blushed before revealing, “For me, it was Andrew.”

Aww–too precious! But the love-fest doesn’t stop there.

Emma continues: “It was Andrew, because my character experiences everything with Peter. It’s her first love and they experience so much together… With him it made sense. Once I read with him and once I met him, it just made sense.”

Alright, now it’s time for a collective: awwww.

“Sorry buddy,” Emma joked, turning to Garf. ‘Tho, we’re pretty sure these two have no problem palling around together. Just peep this LOL-worthy exchange that went down when they oh-so-giddy twosome were asked about the first time they saw each other:

Emma: “I walked in and he was in the full Spider-Man suit–”

Andrew: “—Scratching my ass.”

Emma: “Scratching his ass—which is great, just to break that out. I went in and I needed to stand next to him and I think I really inappropriately just started touching you. He’s like ‘Stop touching me!’ And I said, ‘You have to realize that everyone is in the room with Spider-Man. This isn’t just about you.’”

Andrew: “Actually, it had nothing to do with me.”

Emma: “It had nothing to do with you. At all.”

As for when Andrew saw Emma?

Andrew: “She was also wearing a Spider-Man costume.”

Emma: “Isn’t that funny? Isn’t that weird? It’s such a small world!”

Andrew: “And I didn’t want to go anywhere near her. Because I was like, ‘I thought I was Spider-man.’ I felt threatened. No, but Emma’s natural hair color is blonde but I had never seen her as a blonde. And that was interesting, I guess. It suits you, I think, and so does the red.”

Which makes it official: After witnessing their too cute banter and boat-loads of chemistry, not only are we willing to dish out some dough to see Spider-Man opening night, but we’re dubbing these two one of our fave celeb couples.

They just suit each other.

Click here for the video interview from “EW”.

After appearing on EW’s cover, Andrew Garfield — and the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man — slung his web into EW’s VIP Comic-Con lounge to chat about the gritty reboot of the series set for theaters on July 3, 2012. Why reboot a franchise that saw its last film (Spider-Man 3) released as recent as 2007? “[Spider-Man is] one of the most cinematic characters in the comics universe,” director Marc Webb told EW’s Jess Cagle during their sit-down, which also included Emma Stone, who will play Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans, set to portray Dr. Curt Connors (otherwise known as The Lizard).

And Garfield, for one, has a strong passion for the comics character: “It meant so much to me,” he told EW about being a part of The Amazing Spider-Man. Click the jump to listen to Stone describe her character (who, she jokes, “because of my sincerely limited range is a little sassy and sarcastic), Webb discuss why he cast Garfield in the role (surprisingly, it has to do with a cheeseburger), and Dr. Lizard talk dirty.

Emma Stone is listed #22 on Guyism’s “The 66 most underrated women of 2011″.

22. Emma Stone (2010 Rank: Unranked)

Emma made all three of the sexy lists we referenced in the introduction, but none had her ranked higher than 32nd. We don’t think that’s good enough. Maybe once The Amazing Spider-Man movie comes out in 2012 this will be properly rectified.

We recently had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with Emma Stone about her upcoming turn as a burgeoning writer and journalist in this summer’s genuinely heartwarming tearjerker, The Help. (Stay tuned for our complete coverage on the film).

Towards the end of our dialogue, Stone spoke about the things that appeal to her about being a part of a project like The Amazing Spider-Man, where she will portray the iconic Gwen Stacy.
Said Stone, about what made here want to take on the high-profile role of a famous comic book character – and her love of Comic-Con:

“I was drawn to that part because I really liked what happens between Gwen and Peter and so I’m excited about that. That’s pretty much what my involvement is, is with Peter, and I think Andrew is incredible so that was really wonderful for me. And then I’m also excited about — and this is kind of weird…Well, I guess it’s not weird, but I think it’s really interesting to be a part of something that so many people hold close to their hearts, that so many people grew up with. To get to like be involved in this world of passionate people.

Comic Con is one of my favorite places in the world. I got to go for Zombieland and it is just a full convention center of people who care so much, and that is incredible. I mean maybe just as an actor passion is so exciting and all that emotion. I mean it literally buzzes, being in those convention rooms with 5,000 people, it’s buzzing. And to be a part of something that has that kind of passion, and that kind of enthusiasm behind it is kind of a cool, exciting thing.”

When asked how she was responding to the flood of attention that she is receiving as a result of being a part of such a large scale blockbuster film, Stone took a long pause and replied laughingly:

“It changes on a daily basis. I don’t know, I think everybody in this cast (“The Help”) is doing a lot right now. I guess I was just in a lot of movies that studios have been promoting on buses and things like that. You know everybody is really doing a lot and has a lot of incredible things going on so we’re all kind of in a similar boat — just in a different way.”

With a cast filled with a wealth of talented actors such as Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Bryce Dallas Howard, Allison Janney, Mary Steenburgen, and Sissy Spacek, it feels natural to assume that were would be some trading of pearls of wisdom. Both Viola Davis and Emma Stone laughingly refuted that assumption, however, saying, ”there was none of that.”

Though Stone did admit that, ”Sissy Spacek told me to wear sunscreen.”

She continued by saying, “Yeah I think that would be the most obnoxious thing in the world to sit someone down and say, ‘now let me tell you…’”

Viola Davis chimed in [with faux Meryl Streep authority]: “‘Yeah back in 1980-something when I did ‘Sophie’s Choice….’”

To which Stone inquired, “Does Meryl (Streep) give a lot of advice?”

Davis, who plays Aibileen Clark in The Help and worked with Streep on Doubt, replied, “You know she doesn’t give a lot of advice, I would say that in general, but there are times that she sneaks it in…she’ll sneak it in! And you’re like, ‘Okay, you’re telling me what to do right now.’ But you know I wsould take her advice, if she gave it to me.”

Stone seems to see the trajectory of her career as similar to those of her cast mates, each deeply talented women with moments of increased attention at various points in their professional lives. While each of these seasoned (and yet still impassioned) actors agree that Stone has the talent, passion, intelligence and grace to navigate the waters of fame while staying grounded in what she loves about her work. Bryce Dallas Howard said simply, “She’s gonna be one of the greats.”

You can see Emma Stone in The Help starting on August 10th.

The Amazing Spider-Man will be in theaters on July 3, 2012.

It was an exciting day at the 7Live offices yesterday.

When word spread that Hollywood starlet Emma Stone (“Easy A”; Vanity Fair’s latest cover girl) was paying us a visit to promote her new film “The Help,” fans from inside and outside the building were ecstatic. We were fortunate enough to not only get Emma, but her scene-stealing co-star Octavia Spencer (you might remember her as the hilarious INS agent in “Ugly Betty”), and director Tate Taylor.

They arrived at our studio on time, avoiding Hollywood Stereotype #1. Yes, there was an entourage, but no, they were not divas. Their group of about nine publicists, makeup artists, and frie’ds were all nice and respectful. Emma was very polite and as pretty as she looks on-screen, but for the most part, she blended in with her group and didn’t command extra attention. Octavia was the most talkative, sharing jokes with our staff and asking about the show. And Tate… Let’s just say the ladies were all swooning over him.

The movie “The Help” is definitely worth seeing, especially if you loved the book. The cinematography is beautiful and the story moves with compelling grace. Viola Davis’ performance alone is gripping, but the entire cast gels marvelously. Lizzie and I are trying to finish the book so we can compare notes with our friends when the movie comes out on August 10th.

Greenwood, Mississippi is a special kind of hellishly hot in early August. Having grown up three states away in South Carolina I’m usually prepared for this, but I couldn’t have imagined the wall of heat, humidity and distant cicadas that awaited me in Greenwood, a town of 15,000 about two hours north of Jackson. The heat was unavoidable and constant, threatening to drown out the pleasures of Greenwood’s lush neighborhoods and the inimitably friendly people.

And unlike Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard and a fleet of extras cast from a local sorority, I wasn’t weighed down with heavy period clothing, shellacked hair or even a wig.

The day I visited the set of The Help, the movie adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s massively successful novel, production had set up at an old 60s ranch house in a quiet Greenwood neighborhood– not as nice as some of the nearby mansions, but a perfect home for the character who was hosting the bridge party in the scene that day. And though it looked old from the outside, it had been refitted indoors to look brand new as it would have in 1962, when The Help is set– right down to the leather luggage in the hall closet and the tchotchkes in the front living room. The production had pretty much taken over the neighborhood surrounding the house, from a bathroom trailer parked down the road to the massive lights set up in the yard, but local neighbors seemed more impressed than annoyed– after all, it’s not every day Hollywood comes to small-town Mississippi.

The specific dialogue we saw them shoot actually kicks off the trailer, as Stone’s lead character Skeeter arrives at the bridge party hosted by Elizabeth Leefolt, one of the many old friends she left behind to attend Ole Miss. One guest hugs her and exclaims, “We never thought you’d leave Ole MIss!”, a relatively innocuous comment that still inspires Skeeter to fire back, “Well, it does take four years Jolene.”

Also in the chattering circle of done-up women greeting Skeeter is Hilly Holbrook (Howard), Skeeter’s childhood best friend who quickly evolves into the story’s villain. Hilly wants to set Skeeter up on a date, and it’s clear that Skeeter’s got bigger things on her mind– Stone told us later in a quick conversation that Skeeter has just come from an interview at the Jackson Journal, and though she hasn’t yet gotten the idea to write the book about African-American maids that will provide the film’s drama, she’s definitely not like the other girls at this bridge party. Later on in the film she’ll start conducting secret interviews with local maids and nannies like Viola Davis’s Aibilene and Octavia Spencer’s Minny, exposing the true conditions of their working lives and throwing her own community into chaos. Hilly, it turns out, isn’t the only wealthy white woman who doesn’t actually want to hear what her black maids think about her.

We watched all this action from the confines of an air-conditioned tent in the backyard, both because there wasn’t space to set up a group of five journalists inside the house and sitting outside without air-conditioning would quickly prove miserable. Sharing the same tent were the group of extras, mostly local Mississippi girls done up in incredibly detailed period outfits, right down to the bouffant hair and elaborate jewelry. They’d tramp over to the house for a new scene, then return to the relief of air conditioning not long after, over and over again– the repetitive but necessary magic of moviemaking.

The other journalists and I spent the entire day on the set– there’s not really anything else do in Greenwood, as Viola Davis freely admitted when she said she and her husband would visit the local Wal-Mart for entertainment. Between takes we got the chance to talk to nearly all of the film’s main players, getting quick interviews with Howard and Stone before they were needed back on set and lengthy conversations with Davis and Octavia Spencer, who had come to the set that day only to talk to us. I’ll be bringing you a series of those interviews over the next few days, starting with Stone and producer Chris Columbus and wrapping up with Howard and director Tate Taylor, a MIssissippi native and childhood friend of author Stockett who takes his responsibilities to The Help very, very seriously.

Later this week you can read about how Octavia Spencer came to play a character who was inspired by her, Viola Davis’s personal connections to the Civil Rights era in the South, how the relatively inexperienced director Taylor landed the job, and Howard’s glee in playing a genuine villain. But first we talk to Emma Stone– looking flawless during our un-air-conditioned conversation on the patio despite heavy clothes and a wig– and Chris Columbus, the director of films like the first two Harry Potter films and Home Alone who recognizes he’s entering uncharted territory as a producer here. The Help opens Wednesday, August 10.

It’s worth remembering that when The Help filmed last summer, Stone hadn’t yet been cast as Gwen Stacy in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man and hadn’t even seen her breakthrough film Easy A released. She was still very much a rising movie star, reflected by the fact that she ate lunch at the church cafeteria alongside the rest of the crew and pretended not to even mind the heat. Of course, that all might be because she’s just that cool.

I’m sure there’s a good character reason for this, but you’re wearing twice as much clothing as everybody else.
Well I take the jacket off in the next part of the scene.

So this is Skeeter being more conservatively dressed than everybody else?
Yeah, just a little bit. I just came from my job interview at the Jackson Journal, so I think she’s trying to cover up a little bit more. But you know, Skeeter is a pretty modest girl.

We heard that you nailed it in your very first reading. What was it that you knew about the character that was so persuasive?
I didn’t know that they felt that way, but it’s very nice to hear. Well, Skeeter and I have a lot more in common than I would probably care to admit originally. Of course I’m not as brave as she is, in the endeavors she’s taking on, but I do understand being maybe a little different than your peers in a way. But everyone’s gone through that. I liked so much about her, and that she wasn’t a martyr, and the lessons she learns and the way she learns it. I don’t know what it was about me though. I love this girl, so I’m trying to do the best I can to accurately bring her to life.

Not being a Southerner, what’s it like jumping into this and being surrounded by so many Southerners. What’s the pressure there, and what are some of the more important things you’ve learned?
Well we’re lucky enough to be shooting in the South, which is so great, and as far as the accent went we had a really fantastic dialogue coach named Nadia. We did a lot of work over Skype before I got here, and once I got here we did it in person. Being surrounded by Southerners and hearing their stories, and watching things about Civil Rights history, like Eyes on the Prize or reading books about Jim Crow, that kind of helps me with the backstory in terms of the time period. As far as being in the South, we’re so lucky that we’re in Mississippi. I never knew what the real feeling of being in the South was like, and the kind of secrecy, and the two sides there are to everybody. We’re in a small town, and everyone’s been so nice and so welcoming, but they also know everything that’s going on. They know if I had someone over to my house last night. It really shows, really informs what we’re talking about in the movie. The secrecy required for something this illegal at the time– I now understand so much more how quickly word travels in a small town in the South. It’s good to know what it’s like.

How easy is it to get that love-hate relationship between you and Bryce’s character?
Bryce, I think, has been pretty note-perfect so far. It’s really important to Tate to establish that Hilly and Skeeter were best friends, and they really do love each other. And they still really love each other underneath it all, but they haven’t really spent a lot of time together the last four years, and in those four very formative college years, their opinions on things greatly differ, and it becomes more apparent now that Hilly is married and has kids. It’s easy for me, just because of the way that she’s playing it, it’s been so fantastic. She can switch from [in a thick Southern accent] sweet as pie to just awful in a heartbeat, and she’s figured out the balance really well. It’s kind of my job to react to whatever mood Hilly’s in.

What’s it like working in a cast that’s mostly female? How does that change the environment and the vibe?
I think we’ve been pretty lucky on this one. Everyone is here to make the same movie, and no one’s really come with an ego on them. When that’s the case, and it’s women, it’s actually pretty– I don’t want to sound all girl power here, but it’s been a nice kind of empowering environment to be in. Tate is just keeping a calendar of when who is going through any hormonal times, so he’s aware, because he’s surrounded by nine emotional actressy females.

You should be all on cycle by now.
Exactly, so it’s the week from hell, and three weeks of sweet, loving, “You were so great just then!”

What’s it been like working in this weather?
I’ve got a wig on, so that’s been interesting just with the netting, and the girdle. It’s hot. But I’m from Arizona, in the desert, which makes you feel like you’re being cooked to death. Here, for me, I feel alive at least. There’s at least moisture, and “Oh, I’m a human being, breathing air.” But the mosquitoes are godawful.

EMMA Stone has revealed she deactivated her Facebook account after becoming addicted to online game FarmVille.

The actress told VanityFair that she was hooked on the app, which allows users to create a virtual farm by growing crops and accumulating animals.

“I got addicted to FarmVille, so had to get off,” she admits.

Emma — who’s currently dating her Spider-Man leading man Andrew Garfield — recently admitted she used to suffer from panic attacks.

“I was in therapy. From 8 to 10, I was borderline agoraphobic,” she said.

“I could not leave my mom’s side. I don’t really have panic attacks anymore, but I had really bad anxiety. There was a lot of fear, but [coming to Hollywood] was also very exciting.”

Though she has been on stage since she was 11, in front of cameras since she 15, and already has eight features under her belt, including the lead in Easy A, a role that earned her a Golden Globe nomination, 22-year-old actress Emma Stone recently revealed that she found starring as Gwen Stacy in director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man to be a “daunting” experience. Not only did Stone feel the pressure of pleasing the die-hard comic book fans who are passionate about the character she plays in the movie, but she also found the “scale” of The Amazing Spider-Man to be an “odd” experience.

Just because the scale is so large, doing Spider-Man is more daunting than I realized in the beginning. I’ve tried not to think about it too much — especially while we were shooting — but when you’re sitting on these giant blue screens with all these rigs, it’s the opposite of an environment like [on the set of] Superbad.

Stone is aware her portrayal of Gwen Stacy may not please all of the die-hard fans, but she appreciates the passion they feel for the character.

Spider-Man has this built-in fan base, where people already know the story and are going in with their own opinions and expectations, so you’re either going to live up to them or let people down. But it’s really all about passion, and I love passionate people.

The Amazing Spider-Man was written by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and is based on the classic character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko that first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962. The cast is led by Andrew Garfield in the title role and also includes Martin Sheen, Campbell Scott, Annie Parisse, Julianne Nicholson, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, and two-time Academy Award–winner Sally Field.
